19 JAN 2012 

MEETING CONVENED: President Elrod called the meeting to order on January 19, 2012 at 1905 hours.  The Smoking Lamp is OUT.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, followed by a prayer provided by Dennis Patterson for departed shipmates and our military personnel serving around the world. 

RECOGNIZED NEW ATTENDANCE / GUESTPresident Elrod asked each member in attendance introduce themselves and their command. Active duty commands represented included VP-5/10/30, HSM-70 and CNATTU. 

ATTENDANCE:   37 Personnel; Listing on file.  

BINNACLE LIST:   Continue to remember Terry Thiem, Carolyn West ( Howard), she has  had the tumor removed and her prognosis is good, and CWO4 (ret) James T. Hardin ( Larry’s brother) who has suffered a serious stroke.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Treasurer’s report was approved as presented, subject to audit.  

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: Copies were provided to the members present and are available on the Chapter’s website for review. They were approved as presented.   

OLD BUSINESS: 

1. 65 teams entered our NJROTC/MCJROTC rifle postal this year. President Elrod stated that he will grade targets 21 January..

2. Webmaster Steve Cashat still needs old photos for the website. 

3. Dennis Patterson reported on status of Chapter-9 Hall of Honor requirements. His Committee plans to name the first awardees by the AO birthday celebration in March. Any member wishing to nominate an individual should contact Dennis Patterson.  

NEW BUSINESS: 

1. Chapter-9 stickers are now available, cost is $1.00 each. 

2. The next FOD walk down and cook out   is scheduled for 0900, 17 March. For planning purposes, 16 June, 15 September, and 17 November are the other scheduled dates for 2012. 

3. The BOD selected our AO of the Quarter for the fourth quarter 2011; the presentation will be made at the next meeting. 

4. The membership voted May as the date for the next all AO picnic, hopefully the weather will start out better. 

5. Elections for President, Vice President, Treasurer, and four open BOD seats will be held in April.

You must be a member of the National AO Association to serve and vote. The floor was opened for nominations which will remain open until the April elections. Nominated last night and agreeing to serve if elected:

  GOOD OF THE ORDER: 

1. VP-10 AO’s in attendance praised the “taste of home” packages they received during their recent deployment. There was a loud applause for Auxiliary President Linda Scott  (and Ed) who make and mail them. BRAVO ZULU! Your efforts are important. 

2.  AAO-9 member AD1 (ret) Ed Kmiec turns 95 on January 23. He is a Pearl Harbor survivor and a shipmate of John Finn. We were invited to a party in his honor hosted by The Polish American Club on Collins Road. 

MEETING ADJOURNED: at 1950 hours, Smoking Lamp is lit. Thanks for your attendance and support at our meetings and functions. Without YOU, the Chapter couldn’t be a success. 

NEXT MEETING: 1900, 16 February, 2012, at the Fleet Reserve at 1900 hours. BOD will meet at 1730. Bring a friend or two.
