Free transportation to the site will be from Jacksonville International Air Port parking lot #3; extended parking lot, with no charge for parking or transportation. President Price also handed out information flyers to membership available.

NEW BUSINESS:

Anyone knowing of such an individual or individuals please pass on the names to any Chapter Officer or to Larry Hardin who will pass on to the Chapters BOD for action next month. As a reminder, our next meeting will be 1 week prior to Thanksgiving, please get names into the chapter as soon as possible. Remember also this is a "hand up, not out" and all names of individuals will not be known beyond the Chapter Board of Directors.

Jack Elrod provided an update of applications received so far; 39 teams with one month left for registration. He also advised that the costs have gone up regarding the medals normally presented; provided cost figures, and, that all the local units expressed a desire to have Chapter Officers present certificates during their award presentations that would occur during the March, April or May of 09 time frames.

Board of Directors approved title of our local award to the NJROTC and MCJROTC precipitant certificate as: "CDR Floyd English Leadership Award", certificate design has not been developed nor approved at this date.

President Bobby Price advised the membership that the Chapter would be working with the FRA and our December meeting room availability. December is a busy time for the FRA and has had many requests for functions during December. Stay tuned for further information, we normally do not hold a December meeting due to above and many of our members are on leave many out of the area.

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

Tony Gonzales asked of the location of the Chapters Bravo Flag. Its here and flying presently.

Mr. Sawley and Joe Beliveau talked about the FRA, membership and local chapters. Joe talked about our local FRA and its "Gift Basket" donation and ticket sales; drawing on 10/17/08, with all proceeds going to the USO. The USO program is in dire financial straights to the extent of perhaps having to shut down the USO facilities at NAS Jacksonville and Mayport. Lively discussion was presented by members as to their favorable experiences received from the USO. If this is the case, one can be assured that many more USO facilities will face the same closing through out the US and possibly overseas.

Ed Scott, Secretary, advised the membership present that he was in the process of updating the Chapter Master Muster list. This list is currently being passed around tonight, please check information and make sure it is correct, if not listed please add to this list.

Joe Beliveau, Treasurer, advised the membership that he will pick up the order for chapter T-Shirts on 10/24, see Joe for special requests for pocket style, etc.

Bud Clark talked about our WW II veterans and Honor Air program that we supported this year. He invited all members to the first Annual Honor Air Golf Tournament that is scheduled for 14 November, 2008. Location is Eagle Landing at Oakleaf Plantation golf course. Cost will be $85.00 per person and registration begins at 10:30 with 12 noon tee off time. Call (904) 264-1440 for further details.

Ed Scott talked about Association membership, passed out 2 applications to members present, John Finn who will be 100 this coming July and conventions/symposiums in general.

Bob Bohnstengel talked about Admiral Lambert, the Navy’s oldest aviator who will be 101 May of 09. President Price offered comments of having some sort of Chapter function during this time frame to recognize the Admiral and his continuance of Naval support though the years.

Ed Scott talked about "Taste of Home" program and sponsors to the membership; some of whom had not heard of the program prior, and at the convention the "War Effort to save Copper", this case a savings of pennies (copper) and amount raised during the convention between the Association and Auxiliary. Presented a "Jug for War Effort" along the same principal with all donations going to "Taste of Home" and presented during the next convention. Idea came from Linda Scott who thought "why not carry this through at the chapter level for the same purpose".

President Bobby Price informed the membership that one of our local AO’s; Shay Roberson, just left for a tour of I.A, please keep him and his family in your prayers as well.

President Bobby Price called the meeting to break for 10 minutes and will resume with training for the evening.
