July 15, 2010 

MEETING CONVENED:
President Mike Gramolini called the meeting to order on July 15, 2010 at 1900 hours.  The Smoking Lamp is OUT.  The Pledge of Allegiance was conducted, followed by Chaplain Dennis Patterson leading us in a short prayer and a moment of silence for departed Shipmates, our military personnel around the world and POWs / MIAs. 

RECOGNIZED NEW ATTENDANCE / GUEST:
CDR Gramolini had each member in attendance introduce themselves to each other, and welcomed aboard our guest; Maurice Earley and Kirt Bunn from AIRLANT. 

ATTENDANCE:
37 Personnel; Listing on file. 

BINNACLE LIST:
Ed Scott, Chapter Secretary had pacemaker implanted, his is home and on the mend.  

TAPS LIST:
AOC (Ret.) Mark Yonks former MOTT team member and AO2 (Ret) Carl F. Hoheisel from the Detroit area.  Keep their families in your prayers. 

FINANCIAL REPORT:
Treasurer report approved as read, subject to audit.  

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:
Copies were provided to the members and are posted on the Chapter’s website for additional review. Formal reading of the minutes was voted to be dispensed with. 

OLD BUSINESS:  

·         President Mike Gramolini announced that the Chapter BOD had selected Chapter Aviation Ordnanceman of the Quarter for the 2nd Quarter 2010.  Name of individual will be announced at the next meeting.

·         President Mike Gramolini asked membership present; by show of hands, of who would be attending the upcoming AAO Symposium/Convention in Reno, NV this August. A show of 8 members indicated that they would be attending.

o   Secretary Ed Scott provided an overview of the agenda for the Symposium and overview of events for the Convention.

o   Vice President John Newman talked about absentee ballots for Association Members not attending the General Business Meeting and provided copies to member’s present, stressing correctness of ballot submission for their ballots to be counted vice discarded due to submission errors. (Ballot available at link through Chapter WEB site to National and Red Shirt)

o   President Mike Gramolini addressed AAO of the Year submission, Hall of Fame and Scholarships submissions. Importance to all members and their families as well as true recognition to that “Out Standing AO in your command” by AAO of the Year nomination. “Little work on your part as supervisor/CPO/Gunner pays rewards for many years to come.” 

NEW BUSINESS:

·         President Mike Gramolini announced that the Chapter BOD had selected AO1 (AW/SW) Lawaua S. Whiteside, USN as Chapter 9’s Aviation Ordnanceman of the Quarter for the 2nd Quarter 2010.

·         President Gramolini advised the membership that next month the Chapter should have Chapter 9 membership cards available at the cost of $1.00. The cards are made, however a little more discussion by the BOD is needed to finalize the issue.  Non AAO members are always welcome to all Chapter functions and events except for voting.

·         President Gramolini announced the chapter was supporting the nominations of AO1 Luis Aponteramos for the 2010 John W. Finn AVORDY of the Year, and LCDR H. Steve Cashat USN/Ret. for 2010 Association AO Hall of Fame.

·         Vice president, AOC John Newman announced that absentee ballots, envelopes and stamps were available for those who were not attending the convention and who have not yet voted.

·          President Mike Gramolini announced the Chapter BOD had selected AOCM Rick Wyman, USN/Ret. as Chapter 9’s PAO and that Rick will be asking for specific assistance from the membership at the next general business meeting.

·         August 21, 2010 was announced as our next Adopt-A-Highway road clean up and is to be followed by a burger burn. More information will be promulgated at the next meeting. 

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

  • President Gramolini and John Printy, Treasurer, reminded all members of the importance of membership to the Aviation Ordnancemen Association and to our host, the Fleet Reserve Association. Membership applications for both organizations are available.
  • Scheduled training for this evening was conducted on the AGM-154 JSOW.
  • President Gramolini reminded all that the symposium and AAO convention was fast approaching, August 12 - 15. He encouraged all going to become involved and to sign up for the different committees that are available, and to defiantly sign up for the general business meeting on Saturday morning.
  • Thanks to one and all of our membership in your support and presence at our meetings and functions. You MAKE IT HAPPEN!

MEETING ADJOURNED:
1947 hours, Smoking Lamp is lit. 

NEXT MEETING:

  • 19 August 2010 at the Fleet Reserve at 1900 hours, BOD meeting at 1815. Bring a friend or two.
